Guns arrive at Heathrow.
Strangely I can't find a more up-to-date article than that, although I saw it mentioned on TV. The Telegraph has decent coverage:
Article.
Look on the bright side, at least they scrapped the idea of using lasers for the Pentathlon.
Now would be a good time to write to the paper and point out the absurdity of all the section 5 claptrap for pistols.
The person most affected is Georgina Geikie (25m pistol).
And there's also this nonsense.
I think it's a bit more complicated than that article makes out, because there are various slots available for the hosting nation but not every event so there is a benefit to swapping slots to events where you have more of a chance, I'm not an expert on Olympics bureaucracy I have to admit.
I think this just about sums it up. _________________ Steve.

It's certainly good news for shooting sport in general, shooting's status as an Olympic sport is a great help in defending it, and indeed promoting it. I'm sure if that two faced slag Sebastian Coe had stood up for pistol shooting instead of slithering off on his stomach, the Olympic sport of pistol shooting might have been saved. |
