Sounds plausible to me, clearly he's very experienced, how long would it take to get down the stairs? A few seconds? Electronic combo lock on the safe or with a key, few seconds? Revolver with a speed loader, a few seconds, few seconds to run to the door.

I've shot plenty of IPSC courses of fire that were similar in nature and done them in under 38 seconds. You can wake up very quickly when a molotov cocktail lands nearby, I would reckon. From the sounds of it, he'd most likely practiced doing it as well.

In any event, is having a revolver in the bedside table illegal anyway? If the house is locked up and only the licenced owner has access, how is that unsafe storage? If it was loaded they might have a point but clearly you can load a gun and run downstairs very quickly.

From the sounds of it his house is one step short of a bunker. I've never heard anyone argue before that you couldn't live inside the secure storage. Like his lawyer says, for all we know the bedside table was locked too.

The more relevant point is, what a waste of time and money prosecuting him. I'll be astonished if they convict him.

Why are the police treated differently?

Quite.

Acquitted after two years of wrangling.

Rolling Eyes

In defence of the Crown, it has to be said the secure storage laws in Canada are a total mess.
