has anyone got any more info on the current uk ban on 50 cal shooting?

the only info i can find is that there has been some kind of "incident" involving the armed forces and until its been fully investigated all 50 cal shooting is banned (by civilians and military)

sennybridge is currently only allowing up to .30 cal on x range, so the ban actually takes in 338 etc too!

any info would be cool

Never heard of that. The closest to it was the ban about 18 months ago by the military on using 8.6mm (the military version of .338 Lapua) on gallery ranges.

Don't know if that still applies though. I seem to recall that it been dropped but can't remember the precise details.

Is that the one about the bullet going out of the danger area? I heard something about that, can't remember .50 being mentioned though.

Taken from Offa's Dyke website:

"Following a recent Military Incident, resulting in total Suspension of 50 Calibre shooting on Military Ranges, we were informed that the situation was back to normal. However, this only applied to Lydd, with Warcop & Sennybridge still on suspension."

I was, myself, looking to make a trip to Sennybride as we, at Thetford (Stanta) ranges have not had a 50 cal shoot for some time.

Not sure as to the incident though.

In Northern Ireland, somebody shot a 50bmg tracer round that cleared the backstop. Believed to be from a Browning M2 Heavy Machine Gun.

Naturally this makes the round especially dangerous all of a sudden.

Probably because this thread is 6 years old.
