Article.

Well, when you only need 8,800, you can go the Rolls-Royce route.

Any thoughts on the use of 77 grain ammo with a 1 in 7 twist Steve?

I heard they might be doing that, but the 1/7 twist was intended for tracers.

Bear in mind the old M196 tracer is 0.1 mm longer than the SS109 bullet and SS109 can be fired through the old 1/12 twist no problem, I've done it. But the SS110 tracer is over 29mm, i.e. more than 6mm longer.

I don't know how long the 77gr bullet they're proposing to use is, but I doubt it's that long.

I have to say one of my pet chuckles is going on internet forums and seeing people blather on about what is the best twist for firing 62gr bullets. I don't actually know but practical experience tells me 1/10 is plenty and 1/12 works. But agghh, it's not "milspec". Even Colt's thought 1/7 was crazy, they recommended 1/9.

As did Steyr and FN. They all thought 1 in 9 was better, but what did they know that the US Gov didnt Shocked ? All they had was hundreds of years of gun making experience. Madness I tell you.
