|We should have a thread on this I think: http://www.sportsmansassociation.co.uk/?p=209
Personally I think arguing for the repeal of the Firearms (Amendment)(No 2) Act 1997 is not the way to go about getting pistol shooting legal in GB again. First of all it's a law that is a sacred cow, so getting it simply repealed will never happen, second of all the general consensus back in 1997 was that it was unworkable, so why would it be workable now?
The more logical approach to my mind would be to argue for a new Firearms Act (which is supported by everyone) and within that Act have provision for the legal use of pistols in GB for target shooting.
Back in 1997 the argument was that secure clubs would never happen because the clubs couldn't afford it. Well now, a lot of those clubs don't exist anymore so how could they be resurrected and then find that money as well?
Only three things are certain: death, taxes and stupid gun laws.
