Basically the AK-74 with a rail, sights moved to the back and a three-round burst fire device. Also there is a four column 60-round magazine. Wow. Let's copy features that have been available for the AR-15 for how many years?

If they actually think they're going up against Vietnam era M16A1s when WW3 breaks out, they're going to be in for a big surprise...

Also apparently Russian special forces are using the Nikonov AN-94, but the AK-12 is going to be the new standard issue rifle.

Only three things are certain: death, taxes and stupid gun laws.

i got to agree with you there steve. there was a small microcosm of the vietnam war with the AK-47 against the M-16 A1 and both had there advantage. the AK had more penetrating ammunition in regards the 7.62x39 weather the M-16's 5.56mm round just didn't match that in jungle environments. the 7.62 had the ability to kill you hiding behind a tree. the M-16 had the advantage of being accurate as hell. but it was just ill suited to jungle warfare. and if i was in that conflict i would have opted for the AK rather than the M-16. but now with the AN-94, AK-74 AND 100 series plus the Colt M4 A3, and what i have been using the canadian diemaco C8, in terms of superiority the american weapons have come back with force. the AK no matter in what form is a great weapon in terms of reliability and robustness. but now with modifications that can only be registered in combat i don't think that any new AK is going to be better than the M4. in my own opinion.
