Article.

So apparently he was lying about the SLRs as well and they were downconversions.

Illegal sale of prohibited weapons can get you a life sentence since the law was changed in 2014.

A friend has one. He's checked and counted different numbers and I got the impression it was mostly the svts and sks rifles. His seems to check out. Any comment?

Well the police have his RFD records, so I'm sure they've already contacted any FAC holders who had an illegal firearm.

Very true, plus as I said, it has three different serial numbers, the rifle was built by components like the Anglo Custom L1A1's were (I know the then ACPO said that would only apply on a case by case basis, but that seems to be kosher) and you're right, they know. I think they might have pulled some L1A1's in and found most if not all were found. It was according to one forum I'm on the SVT 40's that he started down converting (though in a way that going back to semi would be difficult) rather than doing component mix and match building.

I'm just struggling as to why he got so sloppy. On another note when he first got the rifle it had to go back to get a new barrel as it deformed the cases badly and turned out to be for a 7.62x54 and not a 308, the necks were no longer on the cases when ejected, no neck, just straight. Kinda scary but it was sorted and quality issues seemed to abound with then and my friend appears to have one of the few good ones.

Were many of these working or are a lot of them de-act's? They appear to have documents in the card boxes which look like deactivation certificates?

It's difficult to believe that one person managed to get hold of quite so much section five gear in apparently such good condition.

I think they're evidence documents aren't they?

Buckland was a section 5 RFD, so I assume most of them were in working order.
