Came accross a Jeffery rifle for sale this afternoon in .360 WR No3 Express but I can find no information relating to the cartridge, other than the post linked to below. Does anyone know anything more about it such as case and bullet dimensions and what, if anything, you can form the brass from?
The round is on the hallowed HO list of obsolete chamberings and that gives "The History and Development of Small Arms Ammunition”, by Hoyem (volumes two and three)a reference for information - could someone look it up if they have a copy?

.360 Westley Richards No 3 Express 1 29/32"
" This little cartridge was around by 1884. It is illustrated and described in Kynoch's first catalouge of that year. The bullet in this specimen is the hollow point variety, justifying the term "Express". Westley Richards chambered double and single-shot rifles for this round. The charge was 40 grains of Black powder and a 150 grain bullet."
Hoyem Vol 3
edited to add: I'm the one who gave the info in that link, sorry I've nothing more. |
