Article.
This definition of: "mass shooting" used in the article is absurd and appears to have been intentionally contrived so that they could keep saying there had been no mass shootings in Australia when there clearly had been, such as the mass shooting at Monash University or the Wright St. shooting
And they don't even follow their own definition - because the 2014 shooting clearly had four victims, not five. Using their definition, the mass shooting in Monkeseaton wouldn't count, even though he shot 15 people! _________________ Steve.

Response from Gun Control Australia.
Er... I think we can safely say that contains a fair bit of "hollow rhetoric".
Quote: | Urban gun owners should not be allowed to hold their weapons in houses in the suburbs and the sale quantity of ammunition should be highly regulated. Guns should be held in a secure lock-up in a police station and the gun enthusiast must provide two weeks’ notice of intention to use the gun, with details of where and with whom they will go with the weapon. They would pick up the weapon on the morning it is required and return it within seven days. No non-farmer should be allowed to own more than one firearm.
If, after returning from a hunting trip and handing in their gun [my emphasis], the gun owner takes ice, has a fight with a partner or a depressive episode, their gun will not be available to be used to murder in anger, depression or delusion. |
There's no indication that any of these recent mass shootings were spur-of-the-moment.
So anyway, obviously police stations cannot store that quantity of firearms (2 million+) and even if they could, it would obviously give criminals a place to rob as police stations are not always manned 24 hours a day. And this assumes they have any problem attacking a police officer.
And also, blindingly obviously, any gun owner could come up with a pretext to remove his firearm from storage and then use it in a crime, so it's utterly stupid.
The one thing I will say for Gun Control Australia is that unlike anti-gunners in other countries, anti-gun "researchers" in Australia and various Australian politicians, they don't deny that there have been mass shootings in Australia since 1996. So, at least they're honest. _________________ Steve.
