|
|
Lots of people have been asking me about this, basically the MoD Police have been conducting an investigation called "Operation Decried" and several people have been arrested for the theft of SA80 parts from Warminster that were later allegedly used to make L98A1 rifles that were sold in the UK.
The rifles can be identified by non-standard serial numbers and the front of the TMH around the trigger guard was cut off and then rewelded.
The trial is coming up in the next few days so presumably the press will cover it. _________________ Steve.

The MoD Police have seized all the rifles that contain stolen parts.
This article doesn't shed much light on it. _________________ Steve.

So there are apparently a total of seventeen L98A1s in private hands. Twelve of them have been seized by the MoD police and of those twelve, ten of them contain a large number (allegedly) of stolen parts and the other two contain some stolen parts.
Assuming they're found guilty and your rifle has been seized, you're not going to get much back. _________________ Steve.

So the charges against Adrian Bull were dismissed and the other three defendants were either found not guilty on most counts or the jury deadlocked, so two of them might have to go back on trial for those charges. Also they're planning another trial relating to violations of the Firearms Act. This trial was all about the theft charges. _________________ Steve.

BBC News has reported on this:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-46828601
So what will happen to the rifles the MoD Police seized, but have not been able to prove they were stolen? Will they have to return them to those who they wrongfully accused? |

Last I heard there was going to be a hearing on whether CPS wanted to retry them on the deadlocked charges, also this was about the theft charges, CPS apparently are thinking of laying firearm charges against them. _________________ Steve.
