Hi, I've been advised you guys on here may be able to help me out...
I've rediscovered an old brass shell and out of curiosity would like to know what weapon it was fired from, any help would be much appreciated.
It is 63.5cm in length and 11.4cm in diameter across the base.
On the base it has the following engravings:
01BPD-77
CF <an> 8
DIS13871/E
76/62
There is a similar shell here with pictures...

...but I'd really like to see a picture of the weapon that fired it so I can try and date it.
Cheers |

It would help if you could give a clue as to where you got it from. Is it a war trophy ? If so, "BPD" might refer to an ammunition factory operating in Vienna in WW2 (Goertz GmbH).
I would have expected the letters to be lower case though. What is the diameter at the mouth ? Presumably about 105mm ??? Anything in One - o - five should be familiar enough to you ! |

ECRA are the people to ask: www.ecra.info - loads of Austrians and Germans with collections like that. _________________ Steve.
